Kelly Dupre – Kevin Harvey

Kelly Dupre / Kevin Harvey Master the Madness!

Kevin Harvey and Kelly Dupre take the first event of the season with 59.24 pounds and drive off with the Champion’s Grand Prize package. The 22′ Tidewater Baymax Boat powered by a 200XB Yamaha Outboard and the rig sitting on a McClain Trailers custom tandem axle trailer. This fabulous Champion’s guaranteed grand prize at each of the 4 team open events this season carries a retail value of nearly $60,000.00.

The 2020 Tidewater Boats Elite Redfish Series, presented by Yamaha Outboards got underway Friday morning June 19 with the launching of the fleet for day 1 of this 2 day competition taking place in Myrtle Grove Louisiana.

The #MyrtleGroveMadness would allow 2 angler teams to keep 3 redfish per day for a tournament total limit of 6. Each day teams would have to bring in 2 “slot” fish, measuring between 16 and 27 inches per Louisiana state law and 1 “over” fish that could push the line all the way up the Check It Stik measuring board to 30″. The over as it is known would play a pivotal roll in the outcome of this event.

As day 1 kicked off with the live stream of the morning launch it was evident that not only the anglers participating in this event were ready for some great fishing but so were the over 39,000 viewers that logged on to catch the stream. Within 3 hours the “reach” of that stream topped the 128,000 mark. The 2020 season was off and running… fast!

Team after team caught great fish in the sun drenched waters in and around Myrtle Grove. The bright blue bird skies meant teams could site fish, a favorite pattern among this field of pros and many, like the winners took full advantage.

Travis Land – Jimmy Lloyd

Land / Lloyd Land Show up Big at Showtime!

One of the top teams on the tour and leaders after day 1, Lance Reynolds and Austin Angel zeroed on day 2 and opened the door for Travis Land and Jimmy Lloyd to notch their first win fishing together as a team on the Tidewater Boats Elite Redfish Series.

A commanding 4 + pound victory netted this top team a $60,000.00 Tidewater – Yamaha – McClain grand prize, plus a cool $10,000.00 cash for topping the field in the optional Big Bag and Angler Advantage categories. Land and Lloyd brought 52.72 pounds of live redfish to the stage over the 2 days of this event for better than a 8 pound average, per fish.

Thank you to the Elite partners like Tidewater Boats, Yamaha Outboards and McClain Trailers for making this event and its tremendous prize packages possible. We would also like to thank the city officials that allowed us to have this event under certain but necessarily restrictive conditions.

Thank you to the anglers, staff and fans that did a great job at following those conditions and to the Port Arthur Convention and Visitor’s Bureau for supporting this event.

Dwayne Eschete – Kevin Akin

Dwayne Eschete / Kevin Akin Win Hustle!

The team led from wire to wire and finished on top to claim the top prize, a Tidewater-Yamaha-McClain champion’s rig. As the sun set Sunday afternoon it was Yamaha Pros, Dwayne Eschete and Kevin Akin that were standing atop the #1 spot at the 2020 Houma Hustle.

As part of the top 4 after day 1 day 2 would find this team being held out to weigh in last as the tour executed a reverse order of finish from day 1, drive through weigh in.

Southland Dodge provided the trucks  that would bring the pro teams to the front of the stage where they would wrestle their 3 redfish limits from the live-well, show them off to the crowd and then have them weighed.

With this event being canceled then re-scheduled 2 times it was a small group of just 13 teams fighting it out for the top prize worth thousands of dollars. “Who wouldn’t want to have a 1 in 13 chance to win a great grand prize like this”, stated Dwayne and Kevin early on at the pre-tournament captain’s meeting held at the Houma Terrebonne Civic Center.

The Civic Center hosted all activities for this exciting weekend and did a fabulous job rolling out the red carpet for the tour and it’s anglers. Dean Schoust led a great leadership group from the Houma Civic Center that included Rachel Bridges and Scott Belanger that made sure every aspect of this weekend was perfect.

The festivities got started with the Ducks Unlimited Friday evening extravaganza leading off the weekend followed by Saturday’s Craftin’ Cajuns Indoor Craft Show and Market Place event which saw over 7,000 enter at staggered intervals to ensure social distancing to outdoor live music and food trucks keeping everyone entertained and fed the entire weekend. This event was top shelf and we on the Tidewater Boats Elite Redfish Series, presented by Yamaha Outboards cannot wait to be back in 2021.
