Guzman and Brown Team up to take the Kick Off!
The team caught their 15.85 pounds of live Texas redfish on a Deadly Dudley Texas roach on a Salty Head 1/4 ounce jig head. Ronald Brown credited the vibration the lure causes as being the key to get their fish to bite in what was extremely dirty water after the week long storms. While Brown threw a dark color combination Guzman depended on a more natural shrimp color to get his fish to bite. The team took home 2,800.00 by beating 14 other teams paying a 200.00 entry fee, per team. Second place was caught by the team of McQueen/Hausler with 13.84 taking home $700.00 third was Brandon/Enriquez with 11.75 pounds for $300.00. Fourth and fifth, Garcia/Castro and Morrisette/Murphy received trophy checks to remember their top 5 finish. Next up the Jacksonville Open Kayak Championship taking place Saturday May 25.
